Lithuanian basketball league (LKL) office is located at the busy street of Vilnius. This office could be recognized by the windows, where the screens broadcast basketball games. It’s the hot spot of the most popular game and sport in Lithuania.

For us the crucial point was to accommodate LKL heads, six employees and at some events – also dozen of journalists into small area headquarters. The kitchen, WC, closet and the area for the visitors was also needed as in other typical office.

Multifunctional area, armed with modern conference equipment had to be integrated into the typical old town building with high ceiling and moldings.

Our aim was to preserve the singularity of this building, so we did our best leaving the areas, facing the street untouched. The kitchen and WC was integrated into the thickened wall.

Special medium-sized cubes, which serve as a closet, were made for the comfort of the guests.

The main motif which can be found „hiding“ in various spaces of this interior – Lithuanian distaff. Why it? It‘s the motif found in old Lithuanian wood carvings, but also the name of specific maneuver of basketball players. The distaff in this interior also reminds the round basketball ball.

This motif was carved on oak finishes, on the closets and walls. Other decor element, stylistically reminding the authenticity of the building, is the colorful floor tiles. As carpets in other interiors here they frame the conference table zones.

The bound of the old building and the modern world is strengthened by strict black frames of the partitions, luminance profiles and the skirting, leaving tables and chairs as the white interior spots.
